A Gift from an Angel

In Grand Forks, North Dakota, and East Grand Forks, Minnesota, there was a great flood. There was water everywhere. Many people had water in their houses. They had to leave their homes. After the flood, they had no houses, no furniture, no clothes, and no food.

But someone decided to help. A woman decided to give money to the flood victims. She wanted to give $2,000 to each family. The woman didn’t want people to know her name. People thought she was from California. They called her “Angel.”

Dora was one person who got a $2,000 check. She said, “There was two feet of water in my house. I lost all my things.” She and two hundred other people waited in line to get their checks. Dora said she thought an angel gave them the money.

People who worked for the city said anyone who had a flood in their house could get the money. Many people got checks for $2,000. The woman called Angel gave more than $2 million in all!
