Save My
Mom!
One
Thursday morning, the Operator at 911 emergency services was very surprised.
When she answered a call, she heard a tiny voice. It was a young child. The
child said, “Mommy sick, Mommy sick,” over and over again.
The
operator found the address of the call. She called the ambulance and the fire
department. In a few minutes, the paramedics and the firefighters arrived at
the house. They pushed the kitchen door open. A small voice was calling from
the basement. They went down the basement stairs right away. They couldn’t
believe their eyes! The little girl was only two years old! She was sitting by
her unconscious mother. She was holding her mother’s hand, and tears were
running down the girl’s cheeks.
The
paramedics began giving first aid. Soon the mother opened her eyes. Then she
explained what happened. “I’m Johanne Brissette,” she said. “I’m diabetic. I
was at the dentist. When I got back, I didn’t feel well. I told Chloe, ‘Mommy
is sick,’ and then I passed out.”
“Everyone
was surprised that Chloe could call 911. On Monday I tried to teach Chloe how
to call 911. She couldn’t do it.”
The 911 operator was very surprised, too. “It’s the first time I’ve seen a two-year-old call 911!” she said.
