=====================================================

Dear Readers,

"The more water that come from the sky; the less water will come
from the tap."  Guess where I live?  That's right, Taichung city.
It has been raining heavily the last three days in Taichung and the
water to our building has been cut off since yesterday because of
"muddy water" from too much rain.

On the bright side, I'm the new English Speech Champion for Taiwan
(Year 2000 impromptu speech).  It was really fun and many people
came to shake my hand after the contest.  I was especially happy
to see some of our readers there.  The Toastmasters Internationally
President from California presented me the award himself.  It was
a very special and memorable moment for me.

Last year, I won the National English Debate Contest in Kaoshoung
and the mayor of Kaoshoung presented me the award.  Though I was
flattered and the award was bigger, winning this Toastmaster
contest was even more meaningful.  Toastmasters is a professional
international organization teaching members "The Art of
Communication and Leadership in a Fun Environment".  The level of
training and expectation is much higher at Toastmasters, and I
feel it is a much bigger honor to win a Toastmasters contest.  If
you are curious about what this International organization with
7,000 clubs does, you can go to the following URL to find more
    information: http://www.toastmasters.org

By the way, I've just added a new logo to our website.  You can see
it on the homepage.  My friends say it looks just like me ^_^  What
do you think?  If you have any good graphics or know of any good
graphics for our website, please email them to me.  Please just
make sure there is no copyright problem ^_^

THIS WEEK's FEATURED TOPIC:

    "Stock Market on your mind?"
(a topic requested by one of our loyal readers)

ANSWER:

1) Bull Market: a stock market that is going up.

2) Bear Market: a stock market that is going down.

3) Technical Analysis / Technician (the person who use): when you draw
charts and lines to try to predict the future movement of the stock
    market.
     Example:
"My friend is a technician because he uses technical analysis when
       investing in the stock market."

4) Fundamental Analysis / Fundamentalist (the person who use): when
you use the earning capability of the company and their future
earning potential to try to predict future price movement.

5) PE Ratio or Price/Earnings Ratio: you should understand this one
    without me explaining.

6) Long: a person who does things that are considered bullish (e.g.
    buying stocks).
     Example:
"John is long on the market."

7) Short or Selling Short: a person who does things that are considered
bearish (e.g. sell stocks or borrow stocks to sell (selling short)).

8) Market Order: selling or buying at market price.

9) Limit Order: selling or buying at a set price.

10) Stop Order: sell when the price has dropped to a certain set price.

11) Margin: paying for only a percentage of the stocks you buy and
     borrowing the rest.
      Example:
       "Jennifer bought on margin."

12) Lose Your Pants: losing a lot of money.
      Example:
"Don't loose your pants in the stock market."

13) Win a Bundle: winning a lot of money.
      Example:
"I hope all our readers win a bundle in the market."

I wish all my readers the best of fortune in the stock market.
An American friend of mine just sent me this cartoon.  I think you
might all enjoy its humor since it is related to today's lesson.
