JacksonFive's
Free Weekly "Learning English" Newsletter
Issue: 38 "JacksonFive's New Year Resolution"
Jan 7, 2001
=====================================================
Dear Reader,
Happy New Millennium! This is the official first millennium issue
of Path2English. Noticed, in welcome, I've also updated the title
on our homepage. Our website and newsletter has certainly grown
and "evolved" quite a bit this last year (def: the verb form of
evolution, improving oneself). Then again, so has our
JacksonFive
Family of
Readers.
I'm sure some of you are recovering from all the partying and
eating from the last three weeks. Between Christmas and New Year,
there were a lot of activities and events indeed,

In the west, "Christmas Eve" (def: the night before Christmas Day)
is traditionally a time spent with close family members. Please
imagine Christmas dinner, Christmas tree, and the exchanging of
gifts. New Year's Eve on the other hand is a time for partying
with friends, crazy activities, and watching the ball drop in New
Year's Time Square.

For New Year, it is also traditional for people to "reflect" (def:
think about the past) on the things that happened to them during
the last year. The first thing that comes to my mind for the year
2000 is the birth of this newsletter. I remember the first issue
of our JacksonFive newsletter went out on February 20th, shortly
after Chinese New Year. From 62 readers during the first issue, we
have grown to more than 7,000 members in our Worldwide JacksonFive
Family. It makes me quite happy to be able to help so many people,
and thank you for all the "thank
you" notes.
June last year was also the month that I started my JacksonFive
English School. It has also grown. I remember our first class
started with only 3 students. Now, we have more than 70 students
spread across our many classes. I'm so happy that the school has
become so "dynamic" (def: many strong areas). We have grown from
just offering American style English to children and adults to also
offering computer and basketball camps (taught by a professional
Canadian basketball coach). I'm happy to see that we have become
quite a well-rounded school for well-rounded development in
children. From Jan 29th - Feb 17th, we will also open an exciting
and fun 3 week American Style Winter Camp,
http://www.jacksonfive.com.tw/Classes/WinterCamp.htm. I'm sure it
will be lots of fun for everyone.
Happy New Millennium!

THIS ISSUE's FEATURED TOPIC
"JacksonFive's New Year Resolution"
ARTICLE:
A New Year resolution is a plan you make for the new year. Something
that you promise yourself you will do. People make New Year
resolutions to "lose weight", "learn English", and "be a better
person", among other things.
My New Year resolution and goal for 2001 is to continue on the course
of helping people through our JacksonFive newsletter and school. It
has been a dream of mine for many years, and I'm thankful so many
people have learned English and improved themselves through these two
"mediums" (def: vehicle for communication). Do you have a resolution
to help anyone this year? Anyone who is a stranger to you (like I do)?
I like to ask a favor of my Taichung readers. If you know anyone who
"might be" interested in sending their children to an excellent
American Style Winter Camp to have lots of fun while learning English,
please let us know (mailto:jacksonfive@path2english.com
or call
2473-7578). Our JacksonFive Winter Camp will be an excellent and
productive way for children 6- 12 years of age to spend 3 weeks.
Alternatively, you can also print this web page and give it to your
friends and neighbors,

Thanks for
your help and support.
