Issue: 41     "Resources for Your Children"     Mar 4, 2001

Dear Reader,

Haven't heard from me in a while, right? If you are a teacher,
you know what I have been busy with the last few weeks. It is the
start of a new semester at our JacksonFive School and there are
new classes starting and old classes restarting. So you'll have
to excuse me if I can't write as regularly as before. When you
are waiting anxiously for the next issue, please remember there
are many wonderful past issues already sitting on the website.

This last week I have been experimenting with a new teaching tool
at our school. Do you know what it is? Yes, it is a digital video
camera. I've been very impressed with the results. Students seem
to like it a lot and it will make a great tool to record the
progress of their learning. I even bought an interface card to
connect it to my computer so maybe someday soon you'll be able to
see some teaching video clips on our website. Wouldn't that be
    lots of fun?

As mentioned in the last issue, I'm going to share with you some
educational resources for you and your children. As many of you
have children, I hope these websites will provide some good
"quality time" for you and yours (def: time spent bonding and
building relationship with others). I have found these following
    sites to be outstanding indeed:

  1) This is a HUGE website about dinosaurs and their environment.
You can spend many hours with your children exploring this
website, watching wonderful movie clips, and playing fun "dino"
games (def: short for dinosaur). You can even follow scientist
as they uncover more facts about these great giants. Both
children and adults will find this website educational and
entertaining. Even if you don't have children, this website is
     certainly worth a visit.

  2) This is a fun and well produced website full of educational
games for children. Your children will come back to this
     website again and again.

I'm creating a new page on our website that will contain these and
other wonderful resource links. Please visit this new page often
and you will find many surprises. Please stay tuned for this page,
and I know you will enjoy the websites already mentioned above as
    much as I do.
