Dear Reader,
Did you call your mother today, like me? Or better yet, did you
send your mother some flowers or take her to dinner? When I was
in Canada, my brother and I always took our mother out on Mother's
Day. We usually take her to a restaurant that we know she would
like. What did you do for your mother?
Today, I happened to "drop in" at a couple of my favorite
restaurants (def: visiting without appointment) here in Taichung.
I was surprised how many people were there. It was also
interesting to note that whole families were out together. What
a family day this has been for many Taiwanese.
At the school, we had two whole weeks of Mother's Day activities.
The children really enjoyed making the Mother's Day cards, which
we found from the Internet. They also read and wrote some poems
for their mother (below).
We are already preparing for Summer Camp 2001 at the school. It
will be another fun and educational two months. It is funny to
note that we already have a regular following during these
Western Style Summer/Winter Camps. They aren't our regular
students. They are the children that live too far from my school
to come during school days. During summer or winter vacations
however, their parents bring them from "near and far" to join our
program. Their parents always seem to tell us to contact them for
any future camps.
